We said we’d be awarding two free passes to TechCrunch50 today, but we’re going to have to give out three!

Here are the winners of Mint’s Be Our Guest at TC50 Contest:

Most Referrals and New Users generated

Ryan M. of Berkeley, California who overcame the (admitted) limitations of our Tell a Friend feature to download what must be a sizable chunk of his friends and family’s emails. We think they’ll thank him later.

Best “How Mint Has Helped Me” Story

Robert L. of Jacksonville, Florida, whose story not only included his Top 11 Reasons he loves Mint (sure to be on Letterman very soon) but also quantified all the time and money savings he’s gotten from using Mint.com for the past year ($1,000 and 40 hours, btw). Exactly the right approach to story telling when most of the judges are Engineers!

NEW! Special Award for Creativity and Over-the-Top Commitment in a Contest Entry

Dan H. of Chicago, Illinois, aka the MintFanatic™ who not only coined the MintFanatic term, but also created a web site and posted daily videos on How Mint has helped him. Dan so blew us away that we had to create a special category and award just for him.

Congratulations to our three winners, and a big thank you to everyone who submitted stories and introduced Mint to your friends over the past two weeks. Remember, if you love Mint, please Tell a Friend. They’ll thank you and we can keep Mint.com free!

Donna, CMO, Mint.com

I’m delighted to introduce Mint’s new Editor, Lee Sherman. Lee started last week and will be leading the Mint blog, among other roles here. Please join me in welcoming him! You can look forward to new and improved content as a result of his leadership; he brings over 20 years of editorial experience to Mint, including stints at Quicken.com and Worth magazine. He’s also been an avid Mint user for over a year now, having been one of our first, private beta users last summer.

One of Lee’s highest priorities is to listen to your feedback on what is/is not working for you in our current approach to the blog. Feel free to share any real-time feedback now, via a comment, if you’re in that mood.

I’d also like to thank Silicon Valley Blogger, who has done a stellar job acting as Mint’s blog mistress for the past several months, helping me keep the conversation and content flowing on an iterim basis. SVB’s own blog, The Digerati Life, is always thought provoking and I encourage you to check it out and subscribe to The Digerati Life through this link.

We’re rapidly growing the Mint team in other areas as well. Please check out our job postings for Community Manager and multiple Product and Engineering roles.

Donna

The good folks at the Webby Awards gave Mint.com two nominations for best Website last week in the Banking and Personal Financial Services categories. Please vote for us! We also got an Official Honoree prize for this, the Mint.edu blog.

Now, I have to say that it takes a lot to get the typically low key Mint team excited, and these awards in recognition of their work on our money management tool did the job. Thank you, Webby people, wherever you are!

If you’re a Mint.com user, you probably realize that we take good design pretty seriously here. (If you’re not a Mint user, check us out and sign up! It’s free!) On a personal note, I’ve been working in the personal financial services space for awhile now, and I completely believe that the overly complex, jargon-centric design of traditional financial services sites has been a real barrier to their adoption by many people. If we can help you with understanding and managing your money more easily with the use of our money management tools and our site’s unique approach, then we’re delighted. Your positive feedback has kept us going through some late nights.

Speaking of late nights, we’re working hard to get our newest release completed. Look for a minty approach to all of your brokerage, investment and retirement accounts toward the end of this month. Can’t wait for you to see it.

Donna Wells, CMO, mint.com
