Good tips! I also suggest to use a personal finance software with a cellphone or PDA phone. This makes recording and tracking expenses much easier. An Excel sheet on a PDA would do very well as a personal finance planner and it can be easily transferred to a PC for expenses tracking and archiving.

Two little criticisms…

Economy Class Tip #1:
For hotels outside the US, travel sites (Orbitz, etc) usually offer better deals than contacting the hotel directly.

First Class Tip #3:
If the country you’re going to is less developed, conventionally tips less than we do, and attracts a lot of American tourists, service staff can get surly if you don’t tip “American style”. Not that that should necessarily affect how you tip, just be aware that they can get really pushy.

Hi, really nice tips for saving money for vacations. Apart from saving money while traveling it sometimes get tough to arrange money for planning a vacation. So how about a vacation loan offered by NMTW Community Credit Union to its members?
