My experience is that convenience store milk is more expensive than grocery store milk, and often isn't fresh. I guess it depends where you live.

I don't like the taste of milk created my mixing powered milk with water, but it is cheaper, so you could use if for baking or cooking instead of fresh milk, or maybe mix fresh with powdered, or use the powdered when making chocolate milk or cocoa.

If your supermarket has a "frequent customer" card, get it and use it! Here, having a card means getting nice coupons in the mail...such as getting $8 off when you spend $80. It's sometimes hard for a single person to spend $80 at once, but I try. Generally they send you 4 or 5 of those coupons for consecutive weeks. I can't use them all but I can use maybe 2 of them.

I would add, clip and use coupons! But don't buy something just because you have a coupon for it.

I find having a grocery list saves me money because I know exactly what I need at the grocery store and I don't deviate much from it. If you plan your meals around the circular and weekly coupons and then make a list, you're way ahead of the game. I use a reusable list called Supermarket Smarty that even has a coupon pocket.

The poster is referring to juices that are already watered down. All those "juice drinks" are just juice mixed with extra water and sugar. If you look at the labels you will see they are not 100% juice which is why pure juice usually has a big label on it that say something like "100% juice". Yes, your typical Tropicana OJ is 100% juice, but along with each regular OJ bottle stores carry a ton of others that might look like OJ bottles but if you look at the labels they are actually called "Juice Drinks" - in which case they are not 100% juice.

Perhaps it would be more wise to avoid the orange juice all-together.

http://www.thekitchn.com/thekitchn/surveys/oj-morning-necessity-or-empty-calories-099045

And all that milk? I've cut back on my milk consumption remarkably by not having a glass with dinner with the sort of every meal regularity I once had, now I opt for water.

And, for breakfasts, I go for (predominantly) oatmeal, but also eggs/toast/pancakes/waffles. At the same time, the less cereal I eat the less milk I have have to buy!

It is also a good idea to shop at places like Costco and Sam's Club.

Great example:
Costco membership = $50
Gallon of milk = $1.65
18 eggs = $2.50

Basic essentials cost next to nothing and bulk non-perishables are always money savers.

Check out how to save about $50.00 plus a month at the following web site
www.AngelFoodMinistries.com There are no fee's no due's and no background checks. Just look for a host site near your home and pick it up on the day they tell you it's there.
Frozen food like chicken, steak, vegge's, and eggs, beans and rice. It changes month to month. Worth checking out.

"9. Try to shop at the same store."

A way to help you from straying and buying thing you don't need is to make a shopping list before you go shopping and sticking with what is on the list at the grocery store.
