Highly agree with first post by "chela". I just had a wedding and attempted to manage my wedding budget on Mint.com. It isn't practical to expect users to readjust a budget every month for what they think they will be spending that month.

Not only is this a hassle, its bad practice. It opens the door for me (the user) to steadily increase my budget each month as I near the wedding date, which will invariably drive the total cost up. It would be better to set a total budget when you are just starting out the process - say, $20,000. Then everything should be tracked against this total, so that you know where you stand along the way.

I did this using tags, and by knowing my budget in my head. If you tag the transactions manually, you are able to filter on all "Wedding" transactions. This gives you a total sum at the top of the transactions tab, and then I know where I stand relative to my target budget. I categorized my wedding purchases under "Transfer" category also, because this EXCLUDES it from the trends page. I didn't want $10,000 in catering bills showing up on my monthly budget, because it threw everything out of whack.

A really useful, related feature would be being able to set a yearly budget for some items. Weddings fall into this category, but so do vacations/travel, projects like home remodeling, school fees, and such. Doing this means the user doesn't have to change budget per month and it's more in line with their expectations/model.
