Paul forgets to address the economies of scale one can realize by purchasing communal groceries... not only do shared meals mean less per capita work in preparation, but also (despite his claims) purchases for 3 are cheaper per capita than purchases for 1. Not to mention the cost savings amassed by less trips to the grocery store and less time labeling food products by roommate. Oh there's also space limitations... three mayonnaise jars in one fridge?
