Life After College Roadmap

College can be some of the best years of your life, but what happens after graduation? With the tough economy, increased costs of living and outsourcing of jobs, what’s a recent graduate to do?
We partnered with prominent blogger and author of Life After College, Jenny Blake, to develop a post-college decision making roadmap. Whether you live at home, are job hunting or not sure what to do with your life, it may be a good idea to start brainstorming and planning your future.
If you haven’t met Jenny yet, she has quite a story to tell. She attended UCLA and left halfway through her junior year to join a tech startup. After experiencing the “real world,” she returned to college and graduated in three years with a degree in political science and communications with the following distinctions: Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude, and College Honors.
During her tenure at Google, Jenny specialized in training, coaching, and career development. More recently, she took a leap of faith and moved to New York to pursue her coaching and speaking career full-time.
Jenny has been featured on Forbes, CNN, US News & World Report, and was recognized by Suze Orman as a leader among Gen Y.
More than anything, Jenny is proof that your destiny is in your hands.

WOW! This is such useful information and it could not be more visually appealing. I’ve been out of college for almost two years, but I still find this information applicable and helpful. I would have loved to have this as a resource when I was about to graduate. As a new grad, it can be really overwhelming trying to balance what you want to do with what you can afford to do/feel like you HAVE to do. This helps break it down and simplify things. Thanks for creating this. I will be sharing it.
Thank you so much Lauren!! I’m thrilled that you got a kick out of the roadmap — thanks for sharing!
This is really cool, I wish I’d had this when I graduated college!
Thanks Jess! Me too — would have saved me lots of confusion and headaches…
Spending a few months at home after graduation can make all the difference in your finances, even if you have a job! Save, save, save!
Janel — I couldn’t agree more! Not everyone has that luxury, but for those of us who do/did, it’s an outstanding way to save money, find your footing, and re-connect with parents in a new way. Thanks for commenting!
That’s a great infographic. Many of us that have been out of college for YEARS could still use much of this advice. Thank you!
Thanks Mandy! So glad you like it and are finding it useful even a few years out of college. I appreciate you taking the time to comment and say hello!

Talk about boiling down the “infrastructure” of basic foundational life practices! I’ll be passing this along to my daughter NOW, two years before she graduates.
Wow – thanks so much Julie!! Love that you’re passing it along while your daughter is still in college – a headstart never hurts
This is great! A quick summary of useful information from the book in a clear, readable format.

Great article with wonderful advice that will benefit many. Thanks!
Nice little cheat sheet. I am a bit surprised there wasn’t much on the relationship front in here. Not just intimate relationships but all the relationships that matter in life and that are so important once you stop seeing your social circle in school.
Great work…The best I’ve ever had in the space of Information & Graphics : )
Reading it from India, though there are many cultural differences for a college grad who starts his/her life after college, yet the essence is indeed enticing and pushes me to educate my siblings and friends through this…wishing to re-start my life as a college grad and follow the flow as mentioned, the same I’ve learnt by hit-and-trial method…well done..keep the flow!!
