John
How much should it cost for a company to offer a plan? Who do you think should pay for the benefit of having a 401k plan available? And did you really compare a plan that charges 4% which I assume includes some cost of the administration to an ETF at 20 bps? Does that 20 bps include the cost of recordkeeping, administration, etc? That's a rhetorical question, those who understand plans already know the answer. For the plan sponsors that are reading this could you suggest a recordkeeper/investment provider where the all in cost in a mere 20 bps? Suggesting an alternative seems more productive than just getting folks riled up about fees. If my employees starting barking at me about fees I will just cancel the plan.

What bothers me is the brokers make their money whether the stocks grow or tank so they don't have anything to lose...
