Sigh.....

I was enjoying some of the posts on CleverDude's blog and was linked over to this interview --- now I'm disappointed.

Disappointed because he's making the same "annoying" assumption that is far too common in the PF blogger community. Its where he says:

"You’ll find those “rich people” with nice cars and big homes are probably in over their heads just like you would be."

Ummm, where do you get that from? How is this "probably" the case? I really get annoyed by this attitude from PF bloggers that people who "appear rich" are "probably broke". You know, welcome to America, there are rich people here! I don't consider myself rich, but I'm young, single, and make a mid-six figure salary which allows me to enjoy a lot of the finer things, buy cool toys, and still save way more than I'll ever need. I have no debts at all and save well into the six-figures each year. But if I'm driving around in a Porsche (not that I have one) I'm sure the typical PF blogger would look at me and think - "that guy is in way over his head", when the fact is that car maybe cost me 1 or 2 months salary. Are there people out there who appear rich but are in over their head? Sure. But until you can provide some data to back it up, please stop making the asinine assumption that it is "probably the case" in regards to any person you see living "rich". It just comes across as petty, a sad attempt to make people feel better about themselves. This also leads into a whole other issue I have with PF bloggers obsession with living frugally for the sake of saving for retirment - not that I don't think saving for retirement is important. But the typical PF blogger seems to be obsessed with it.

I would say $8 in cash and $1.11 in stamps so total value is $9.11:)

There's actually $8 there ;)

I know my dollars very well. It's the only denomination I ever got my hands on!
