If you don’t have much available cash, retaining assets allows you to potentially avoid having to buy a similar item later, as in the example above. This would theoretically “save” you money.

But you have to get down to asking yourself – were I a betting man, would I really gamble that I would have any use for this thing in the next 12 months? I didn’t think so. The elimination of both physical and mental clutter is worth having to possibly spend a few dollars, at least it is for me.

And I want to point out that the only useless objects in that photo are the speakers. Everything else: entirely useful.

I like leaving items at the end of my driveway as well. Things are sometimes picked up before I return to the front door.
