If you spent most of your Christmas morning tearing and swearing as you tried to get the packages open, you may be wondering if all of this wasteful packaging is really necessary. leave a commentI agree – it’s outrageous how they package goods these days. Surprised that another more viable solution hasn’t yet emerged.
Agreed – but you know, as someone who worked ONE Christmas season in the toy department and wrote off hundreds of dollars worth of toys each day, I can see how it got to this point!
Some parents actually “drop” their kids off in the store to “play” and then, years later those same parents wonder why it takes them so long to open their kids toys for Christmas.
It’s really a bad fact to know that the Global Packaging Industry is larger than the Global Auto Manufacturing Industry itself. But then it can be seen, courtesy the need of packaging in each of the largest to the smallest of goods. But no more eco-friendly alternative is known. If anyone has some idea, pls publicise it.
Consider the unfortunate case of one Larry David, who encountered one of these evil packages in one of the funniest episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm i’ve ever seen – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2YjFYerEGI
I thought this was an ad about a new barbie. Barbie Botched Lipo and Facelift edition!
I agree it is silly how they package the goods but on the other hand what if it is packaged badly and something gets damaged along the path of being delivered to the consumer. Would you really be happy with that?
, there are videos where people open their iPhone packaging the wrong way and it drops and breaks.
