Social Security Number in Mint Transaction

Mint pulls and keeps social security numbers in transactions. This is not a very secure thing. I was falling off my chair to see SSN on transaction logs. How do they protect this information? Banks invest millions of dollars in security. What has mint invested? How do we trust them.

Wow, Jeff, statements such as "You sir, are an idiot" are just the kind of comment I would expect from an Intuit employee. Kinda reminds me of Intuits customer support and entire philosophy towards their customers. Thanks for the insight.

I created a ticket in January Case 00648642: (Mint.com) [ ref:00D78SqK.5007B3llq:ref ]

I received a response from mint thanking me for my "feedback" and requesting I send some other info in which I did and received the following letter:
Hi Jeffrey,

We have filed this issue with our provider and we're actively working on the fix. Unfortunately, we cannot give any ETA for a resolution but we will keep you posted for any important status updates.

Thank you for your patience while we work to resolve.

Regards,
Aysa B.
Mint.com

Haven't heard a word since and have sent several e-mails requesting status.
Getting ready to move my accounts.

Ok, that's wonderful, now how about some development and ironing out all the rough patches on Mint. Seriously, make your investment pay. The mint community has been growing because of the constant trajectory towards improvement.... not because it is a finished product.

I'm very sorry for your experience. I never have trusted Turbo Tax and never used it, although I did demo it. In fact, I don't trust anyone except myself to do my taxes. I'm ultimately responsible for them, so I might as well do them myself. Sharpened pencil, calculator, receipts and instructions from irs.gov.

I'm wondering when Quicken will IMPROVE upon Mint. I switched away from Mint to Quicken Online precisely because there was no reasonable way to track cash purchases (like Quicken Online has), and because Mint's customer service was abysmal. When will Mint finally get cash tracking like Quicken has had forever?!

Mint was bought to be killed, but frankly, I never like the idea that they needed to aggregate my data by user id and password. What that did allow them to say was their data was 100% accurate since it came from the financial institution itself. Glad I deleted my account, and yes, 6 mos with no updates proves intuit bought it to kill i--which is fine by me.
