Mint means a lot to me. Or, it will be. I am trying to prepare ahead of time, or have money to buy whatever gadget I want now, while still saving up. This’ll help, I know that.
Mint means something new. I’m a newly minted graduate, husband, blogger. I’m newly minted on the idea that personal finances are PERSONAL and that I need to take care of it. Before I didn’t really care too much about it. It’s minted a whole new way of thinking about money and how it affects me and the people that I love.
Congrats on the domain name! Very excited about the launch of Mint.
Mint to me means clean, simple, and efficient. It is everything we try to make our finances, but in today’s economy complexity and intricate marketing typically win out.
Keep up the good work!
I’m excited to start trying out Mint! Not sure what it means to me yet as I am currently using the “My Profile” feature from Bank of America to track all of my finances. Mint seems like it will be more feature-rich and slick, though. I can’t wait to test it out!
I can’t wait for mint.com to launch. MSN Money and Fidelity’s Full View are driving me………
Mint means to our family that communion is over and our dad passes out Mints, they are handed down the pew to all in the family and we all giggle through the unwrapping.
Mint means a streamlined web 2.0 *organized* way to view my finances and see where i can make that extra change. Mint means the pinnacle of efficiency, and means that others & I will be able to log in to one account and view multiple accounts, all the while viewing one of the best dam sites online!
Mint means easy finances.
Mint means … “Money in no time” … and that’s what the Web site will be doing for thousands of users come the summer
“The mint makes it first; it is up to you to make it last.” How true!
Quotation from Evan Esar (1899 - 1995)
Mint means knowing what to do with the little money that I have.
It also means that Hoku should be allowed to try the beta.
Congrats on acquiring the domain.
I like Dy’s take on “minted” :-).
Cool, Clean, Concise.
Congrats.
To me Mint means giving the advantage to the little (and lazy) guy
Nice work. Mint is making personal finance simple, smart and…savingish?
…means frugality has never been fresher!
Mint means the ability to provide powerful accounting to everyday problems
Congrats!
to me Mint means seeing what i do with my money in the most simple way
Mint is the best kind of ice cream. For comments on Mint money management, let me try the beta! Congrats on the domain.
Congratulations on Mint.com!….what a refreshing site!
Now you are part of my “Favorites”. I’m looking forward to lots more fantastic financial advise.
Mint is money. Mint represents making sound financial decisions.
Love the Evan Esar quote from Veronica….here’s another:
“Nothing except the mint can make money without advertising.”
– Thomas Babington MacCaulay
Looking forward to the launch and using the product…
[...] check it out Mint [...]
Mint is a delicious leaf that goes well with chocolate;
Mint is money tracking that goes well with financial well-being.
“Plant a little mint, Madame, then step out of the way so you don’t get hurt!”
British gardener
Mmmmm…taaasty.
Congrats on the mint.com acquisition! Sweeet! I’ve been waiting for years to get rid of those dumb personal finance manager programs - I won’t mention any names
So, to me, Mint.com means - or will mean as soon as someone sends me a beta-invitation - I will finally be able to manage my finances the way I’ve always wanted to and from anywhere in the world! All the other PFMs are so behind the times and I know Mint is here to save the day! Really looking forward to using it! I can hardly sleep at night
Hey guys, where’s my beta invite?
mint = fresh shiny new coinage
looking forward to see if you will/can out-mint wesabe
good luck and congrats.
Mint — yum!
to me, mint would mean financial control, everywhere. No more problems between not-compatible softwares, just open your browser and there it is! financial control online! amazing!
mint = fresh impressions
Mint is going to bring personal finances into the 21st century… and actually make them personal again, as opposed to just numbers and formulas. My idea of Mint is that it will be a nice, refreshing treat for my pungent finances.
Everyone has such awesome ideas. I will announce the winner on Friday.
To me, Mint saves time so you can do what you really want.
Mint = 36,300 of sweet sweet calories if I win the 20 lb worth of peppermint. Mmmmm
Mint to me means stacks of million dollar bills as tall as the Empire State Building being stored in a massive underground bunker to safeguard against a maximum probability event (e.g. apocalypse, alien invasion, earthquake, or all of the preceding).
Congrats on the domain name! Now, what Mint means to me… in a few words, fresh, cool, sweet, tasty. The app’s cool, too.
Mint
The power to “print” the money required for successful living….Provides the ability for you to be the Federal Reserve, for your own personal nest egg.
Mint condition: brilliantly new
Mint flavor: crisp, refreshing
Mint scent: energizing, renewing
Mint oil soap: cooling, awakening
Mint green: deep, bright
Mint tea: calming, balancing
Mint plants: fast growing
U.S. Mint: coin producer
Perhaps Mint Free Personal Finance Software will share the same description: brilliantly new, crisp, refreshing, energizing, renewing, cooling, awakening, deep, bright, calming, balancing, fast growing, coin producer.
Congrats on the domain acquisition.
To me, Mint is the promise that I’ll finally be able to keep track of my money - and it won’t cost me my money or my time to do it
Mint means a beta that for some reason, I cant seem to get into.
Make with the puns! I saw 38 commints about a name like mint, and I clicked with excitemint about the possibilities! Alas.
Congratulations on the procuremint
Very witty, Greg!
Yeah seriously, Greg should get some sorta mini-prize for the spiffy puns.
Congratulations! The site looks awesome.
Although mint (obviously) has many meanings, I would have to say my favorite is in the phrase “That would cost a mint”, meaning quite a handsome sum of money.
Your website looks like a mint.
This is a fun branding exercise.
Mint: Comfort, security, safety
=======================
To me, it means the sweet smelling, refreshing flavor of something comforting, as in a cup of mint tea, and also fun (as in a chocolate mint). In personal finance that translates to good feelings, empowerment and a bit of tasty comfort now and in the future. As in the mint on your pillow to make even a bed in a strange place seem more comforting and safe.
Mint: Personal empowerment, creative power, control
========================================
For me, it means the place or way currency is ‘made’ by governments. This brings to mind the empowering feelings of “making my own money” for my future. With Mint, I have my own way of making money, in a sense. It also means uncirculated money… in this sense, it also means that I can take money and “reserve” it for later in my financial planning time horizon.
Mint: Striving and dreaming; reaching for great things
=========================================
Mint also means to strive for, or to attempt something. To me this brings forth feelings of encouragement and empowerment; as in to strive to control, balance and improve my personal financial management and attainment of my goals.
Mint: Creation, building, making anew
==============================
Mint also means (like the currency) to create something new. To me, this coincides with a new, fresh approach to the mundane and sometimes annoying tasks associated with personal finance.
Mint: Standing on the shoulders of others’ achievements and good deeds, to make something even better, more usable, more engaging and extensible, in geek terms. (After all, this is a software company)
===========================================================
Mint is also, a geek term for a piece of code originating from a code base called TRAC, and renamed MINT “Mint Is Not Trac” which, if you care, is a cool “recursive” acronym, and if you are still reading, it is also used in some of the old modem software back when computers weighed more than a small car. To me, this means that in software terms, what is new, is old, and what is old, is new again. After years of “progress” with personal finance tools, including the basic Excel/Lotus spreadsheets (can you say visicalc?), to Quicken, Money and their relatives, to the fine tools that the financial services companies put on their portals…. it is high time to step back from this mainly-linear evolution, stop tweaking the User Experience, and re-invent something quite sensible and powerful, but use the same DNA (as in MINT came from TRAC but was not TRAC)…. in other words, take the learnings from two decades of great work, blow up the old model, and start from scratch with the consumers in mind. We often say it but rarely do it.
======================
In short, mint means a clean, refreshing new start at an empowering financial goal-setting and wealth creation process that has sweet (fun) tools and reminders to bring the necessary discipline into every-day life, without becoming burdensome or geeky. Plus, it has the added advantage of going very well with chocolate. Which is pretty much a universal plus.
Enjoy your long weekend. I’d love to meet your team. You’ve got a tiger by the tail!
Best

Mints means a “fresh” start on getting finances in order that won’t leave a bad taste in your mouth.
Mint is the smell of crisp money in my bank account. Awaken your financial potential with Mint!
Congratulations! The Mint name has a ring to it, and having the domain to go along with it is just fantastic.
Mint looks like it will be very useful to me. I already have money to put into my Mint account, when I get me beta invitation. I love the ingenuity of Mint and how well designed everything is. Once again, congratulations on what you’ve completed so far!
I love mints, so I hope I win!
Mint means relief. Somewhere in the back of my mind is the idea that I could save a lot on my bills if I just shopped around. And I could save some money each month if I paid a little more attention to my budget. And I’d be better at saving money if I my saving was focused on a concrete financial goal. These are worries. But trying to actually do all that stuff (with my current financial tools) would be a bigger hassle. Mint will make it easy. Mint brings relief.
It means I can hold off digesting a sour program like Quicken, and instead wait for a refreshing Mint!
there is nothing better kicking back and inhaling the delicious aroma of mint after a long day of planting the mint seeds.
And the winner is…Flexo from Consumerism Commentary. Congratulations!
Thanks to everyone who left a comment! Don’t feel left out. If you email me your address we will mail you something fun;)
noah [replacewith@] mint.com
I know I’m late but Mint means a lot to me. I read all the blogs and learn so much about why it’s so important to save. Money can disappear so easily and yet very easily I can just keep track of it and know exactly where it’s going at all times. Mint has taught me to control my money, not the other way around. Thanks Mint!
Who won the contest?
Sweet, first blog contest I’ve won, I think.
This is fun so I will participate. Mint is something I have right after I go out to eat at restaurants.
Since I have my own financial blog and also is a saver, I try not to go out to eat too much. This means that I don’t see Mint too often so I end up going to mint.com!
Cheers.
Oh is it over? Oh well, I will jump in anyway!
Mint is important to me because I would be imagining things if there’s no such thing as mint.com
Hey! I received the 20 lbs of mints today! Wow. It’s a whole lot of Wint-O-Green.
Mint means fresh…what a better way to get started with your finances by starting fresh as a MINT!
