New iPhone app! Passcode, Editing, and More!

Many of us at Mint are iPhone users so we’re as excited about our new iPhone app as we hope you’ll be. Keeping things simple is especially important on a mobile device so rather than cram in 100s of new features just to tick the boxes, we focused instead on delivering the most requested features from you, our users.

Enhanced Security

iphone-5

While you could always lock your device with the device passcode, we heard from users that wanted to specifically safeguard the Mint.com app with its own four-digit passcode. Now you can. Hand your phone to someone else and they’ll be locked out of the app. And if someone tries to hack it, after five attempts, we’ll reset your account and delete all of your personal information. If your phone is lost, stolen or misplaced, you can deactivate iPhone access.

Editable Transactions

edit

We’re continuing to improve the Mint.com iPhone app to make it even more useful while you are on the go. You can now edit essential transaction details such as category, tag, description, note and date.

Real-time Notifications

iphone-3

The Mint.com iPhone app now takes full advantage of the notification technology in iPhone OS 3.0. In addition to getting notifications via email or SMS, you can now have them “pushed” directly to your device. It’s faster and it saves you money. Notifications for when you’ve gone over budget, receive fees or experience other unusual activity are delivered securely, right when they happen.

Update your iPhone app and take advantage of the new features today.

    Unbelievable. No Android app? SERIOUSLY?

    • Who uses Android? Are you really shocked? Get an iPhone

    • There will no-doubt be an Android app eventually. But, as it stands there are Apple has sold 17 + million iPhone’s the last time I checked. There is much more demand on the iPhone side at the moment.

Great app, even better website. PLEASE make the iPhone app more capable; the pie graphs and other web-only features would be much appreciated on the iPhone.

    Thanks for a great service!

We also need in the iPhone (and other platforms) App:
    - splitting transactions
    - view trends and change timelines
    - view prior months budgets, not only current
    - view full budget and sub-category breakdowns of the budget

Where is the Blackberry app? there are far more Blackberrys in the world than there are iPhones (contrary to popular belief)

  14. Most techies get a blackberry from their dayjobs, and would be ideal candidates for using mint.com; I’d like to see something for the blackberry curve; it would make me consider using mint.

  15. Need a Blackberry Tour 9630 App – Please!

  16. Android app please!

  17. Blackberry?
    Windows mobile?

  18. What about an blackberry storm 2 app!!

  19. I would like an adroid app myself too. Realistically I couldn’t get an iPhone due to mutliple places that I go frequently and my android phone gets service everwhere I need it. I use Mint and would like to get a mobile app for my use. I understand that Mint will have an iPhone app first due to the current size of the market. Though other apps are on multiple platforms and I don’t see why Mint can’t do this as well.

  20. I’m not using Mint to its fullist, but it an Android app existed I would.

Another plea for an Android application.

  23. The iPhone app is absolutely awesome and probably one of the top 3 most useful apps I have.

The layout is logical and REALLY user-friendly. The updates are fast, and being able to view my budget and details of all accounts on my iPhone, has really helped me to keep my household spending down. In fact November 09 was the first month that I was able to actually stay BELOW budget for my personal spending .

My wife and I usually have a stressful “end-of-month” financial debriefing and planning meeting. Now we have the meeting… but it’s soooo much easier. Kudos to the Mint team.

It’s nice that you Minters have iPhones, but Blackberrys outnumber y’all by a WIDE % and we are more $$ and less game-n-play oriented, and based on reports, Android will soon match them both. SO: let’s support us BBers !
ALSO, PLEASE meld QuickenOnline and MInt !! Two almost duplicate apps from the same company ?! C’mon !

  26. Brent

I love to use Mint.com but really need this app for my Android!

  27. I agree, we need an android app!

Does anyone know how to turn off the alerts on the iPhone? I get alerts all day long now and I don’t want alerts to be pushed to me. Thanks!

  35. I vote for Mint NOT to make an Android app. Just thought I would add to the pile of useless comments.

  36. BLACKBERRY: 28.5 million blackberry users at latest count (http://www.rim.com/investors/pdf/Q1F10_financial.pdf).

  37. It does not matter what how may Iphones are out there. Everyone that is big or the best at what they do had to start at 1 user. Apple is no different than Google and in this case the Android OS. Mint needs to create an alternative app for the Android OS because it is in there best interest to offer option to all of their users in the spirit of customer satisfaction. From reading a lot of the IPhone forum users comments pitting the Iphone vs Android, the instinct to always force someone to share your mindset is counterintuitive of what Apple stands for. Quite ironic actually when you look at Apple and how they branded themselves over the years vs Microsoft.

i would constantly use MINT if you made an Android app. Its really a no brainer with the growth the platform is making. I ditched my blackberry, but its also inexcusable not to have an app for all the business users on that platform.

Can we please get an android app, iPhone WAS the market dominating platform Android is the new platform that is proliferating ver quickly and has very good chances of Leapfrogging the iPhone since iPhone = 1 carrier & 1 device, Android = atleast 3 of the biggest carriers including the biggest carrier VZW and not only 1 but several devices just off the top of my head which I know is way off, I can think of 7 devices and with the new Android 2.0 one app will work on all devices with their different screen sizes. Just my 2 cents that is Mint.com speak. :)

  40. Justin

It isn’t a matter of iPhone vs Android…its the fact that Android has marketshare and has users and a lack of response on the development team or even an update on progress or a plan, leaves a bad taste. I love my Android phone, I love Mint and so do I bet thousands of people…don’t make this an iPhone vs. Android make it about getting Mint in the hands of mobile consumers or at least keeping them informed

  41. Android app please!

  42. We need an Android app. If you did it for iPhone then you can quickly port this to Android. I know a small team of 2 or 3 people could have an operational version by the weeks end for beta testing and a full production version in another week, so there is no excuse. For those out there who have written some Android apps you know what I mean. Especially since ver 2.0 is out. If the game writers can create entire mutiplayer over night then Mint can easily port an app to Android. An as pointed out perviously, Android is now hitting the steets in a title wave with all the major having phones from multiple mfgs to support. Even the last hold out VWS has 2 phones out now, one that is very market priced..Lets get with the program.

  44. DEFINITELY needs:

    1. Enter manual transactions
    2. Graphs & charts on the iPhone app (or any app that’s created for that matter)

I use Chase for my checking, and for some reason no matter the transaction, it shows as “pending” for 3-5 days, which means the transaction doesn’t usually get loaded into mint.com until almost a week after I used it. The whole idea of having the app on my iPhone is so that I have UP TO DATE information, but this is not doing that right now. If I could manually enter the transactions so that they matched up once they rolled through Chase (like most other financial software programs), then this would solve my issue.

But other than that I love Mint.com! Just make it so I can use it please!

  45. Please update the App with more Graphs & Charts, to-date $ Analytics will be nice

  46. Mike S

Windows Mobile 6.1/6.5 app, otherwise Mobile browser-friendly site, por favor.
