2. How safe are the passwords I store in Mint Bills?

For security purposes, Mint Bills disables the auto login option for all the financial institutions it supports. Additionally, all credential information is highly encrypted and remains in a closed system which means no one, including our own employees can decrypt the password. Mint Bills has the ability to save a password or delete it, but we can never read one.

3. Has Mint Bills ever been hacked?

Mint Bills has never detected a hack intrusion and we intend to keep it that way. If anyone's security were to be compromised, it would be damaging to our company’s credibility. We work with top security experts to try and ensure that no one will be able to break into your account.

4. Why does Mint Bills need my bank login information?

Mint Bills needs your online banking user name and passwords so that we can help you manage and oversee your accounts. This information enables us to establish a secure connection with your online finance accounts.

5. What happens if I lose my smartphone?

If you ever lose your smartphone, you can use our "Remote Data Destruct" feature via your account at bills.mint.com to disable the access of any account information from the missing device. Your account information will be automatically deleted from all of your smartphone apps so that no one can access your data.

6. How is Mint Bills free? What's the catch?

Mint Bills is focused on building a great service that everyone will use. Mint Bills generates revenue from advertisements, promotions, and bill pay transactions (paying with a bank account is free, paying with a credit/debit card includes a small transaction fee).

7. What happens to my data if I delete accounts linked to Mint Bills?

Once you delete an account in Mint Bills, the information is wiped from our server forever.

8. Does Mint Bills do anything to protect me against identity theft?

Mint Bills will help you identify and avoid identity theft. The Mint Bills event feeds that you see in your account help to identify any unusual activity in any of your accounts. You can easily review these on a daily basis and respond to them as needed. In addition, Mint Bills accesses and manages all the accounts you connect to it, thus reducing the risk of being involved in any phishing incidents where someone may be attempting to fraudulently access one of your online accounts.
